Established Policies
Name
The Montreal Permaculture Guild
It is common practice among Permaculture groups to name themselves 'Guilds' as an allusion to the concept of guild in permaculture; "a grouping a plants, animals, insects, and other natural components that work together to help ensure their survival."

Mission
The mission of the Montreal Permaculture Guild is to promote permaculture practises in and around Montreal. We will help people to learn about permaculture and to implement its practises.

Vision
The Montreal Permaculture Guild will become an resource for people in the Montreal region that are interested in learning about and practising permaculture. We will become a hub for social connections, information, education, skills and resource sharing. We will also research, develop and promote permaculture practises that are particularly suited for implementation in Montreal's unique environment.

Code of conduct
MPG members will interact with each other respectfully, recognizing the inherent dignity and value that all humans are endowed with. During meetings, members agree to make an effort to stay on the topic being discussed and to help the group move towards making informed, considered decisions.

What constitutes unacceptable behaviour?
Behaviours that are not acceptable include: frequent interruptions and/or not waiting for speaking turn, threats (implied or explicit), sexist/racist/otherwise prejudiced behaviour (consistent interruptions, disrespectful tone of voice or expletives, physically or verbally inappropriate behaviour, etc. ), any behaviour that repeatedly engenders discomfort or annoyance from other present members, and failure to alter disruptive behaviours despite requests from other members.

Membership policy
The Montreal Permaculture Guild strives to be inclusive and accessible while ensuring that people involved in its activities feel safe and respected.
General Membership
General membership is open to anyone who supports the mission and vision of the MPG, who participates in at least one of our activities and who is committed to conforming to our code of conduct.
Organizational Core Membership
General members may join MPG's organizational core by participating in one full core organizational meeting and by becoming familiar with our consensus decision-making process. Full rights of participation are gained upon attending a second organizational meeting.

Policies in Development
Project coordinators 0.5
The MPG core will appoint project coordinators to act as hubs of information sharing and on-the-ground decision-making for the realization of its project. Project coordinators are answerable to the MPG core.
