Anthropocentrism

I did some re-working of this blurb, but this sentence still bothers me a bit:

We seek to empower people to make their communities as self-sufficient as possible, so that they are better able to provide adequate food, water, energy, and waste-management systems as we enter an era of declining resources.

It sounds to me a bit anthropocentric, to say that we need these things because our resources are declining. Can we scratch this part, or find a way to drastically change it? Or does everyone else think it is fine as is? And I apologize in advance if any of the other changes I made to this blurb are contested. rosemary 23:19, 20 November 2008 (EST)
